Cedarlane"santi-ratCD90(Thy1.1)monoclonalantibodyrecognizestheThy1.1antigenicdeterminantonrataswellasmousecells.Thisparticulardeterminanthasbeendefinedtobemonomorphicwithinratsbutpolymorphicinthemouse.TheOX-7clonereactswithThy1.1mice(ie.AKR)butnotThy1.2mice(ie.CBA,BALB/c).TheaffinityoftheF(ab)fragmentofthiscloneforratThy-1.1is3x109 M-1 andformouseThy1.1is3x108 M-1 (1).TheThy-1.1antigenisfoundonavarietyofcelltypesincludingthymocytes,neuronalcells(mouse,rat)(8),TandimmatureBcells(rat),breastepithelialcells(rat)(6),andconnectivetissue(2).OX-7hasbeenusedtodeterminethattheThy1.1moleculeisaglycoproteinwith112aminoacidswhichishomologoustoimmunoglobulindomains(3).
TheThy-1antigenisfoundonadiverserangeofcelltypes(4)andthusitcanbeusedasacellMarker. FurThermore,thebindingcharacteristicsofOX-7havebeenextensivelystudied(1)andthisappearstobeanexcellentantibodyforstudyingthekillingofThy-1.1positivetumourcellswithAb-toxinconjugates(5).Inaddition,OX-7canbecoupledtoSepharose-4BandusedtoeffectivelypurifymouseThy1.1andratThy-1.1antigens.Thisclonehasalsobeenreportedtoworkinimmunohistochemistry(frozensections).______________________________________________________________________________________________________
