DescriptionCedarlane"santi-ratCD45monoclonalantibodyrecognizesamonomorphicdeterminantoftheratleukocytecommonantigen(1).Theantigenrecognizedisaheavilyglycosylatedmembraneglycoproteinofmolecularweight170,000Daonthymocytesbutmolecularweight170,000-220,000Daonotherleukocytes.Theleukocytecommonantigen(L-CA)isamajorglycoproteinofhaematopoieticcellsbutisnotfoundonothertissuesorerythroidcells. Itispresentongreaterthan95%ofthymocytes,bonemarrowcellsandthoracicductlymphocytes.ThismoleculecarriesmuchofthecarbohydrateofthymocytesandshowsinterestingheterogeneityamongstTlymphocytesandBlymphocytes(2,3).
Thisantibodyissuitableforuseinflowcytometryandimmunohistochemistrywithfrozensections.Thisclonehasalsobeenreportedtobeunsuitableforusewithparaffinsections.
